Mo's Challenge # 149

Oskar is Distressed!

Distressing is the theme in Mo's Challenge this week. I find distressing to be a little tricky...you have to distress enough so that it looks intentional, but not so much that it looks as if the card has been through the wars! (Ooh! Look how dirty that is!) Sometimes we card-makers forget that the people who get these cards may not know that it was done on purpose! LOL!

I've used "Oskar" for my card 'cause I thought he already looked a bit distressed! I used mostly scraps from my ever-growing pile. Even the sentiment was one I did for another card, but ended up not using. The corrugated cardboard is from some packaging that I saved a while ago. The hanging watch charm is from an assorted package that I bought on sale years ago, and this is the first time I've used one of them! I've always liked the look of acrylic paint on cards and finally got around to trying it. Very messy, but I'll do it again!

Inside: "Happy Birthday...Ready or Not!"

Images: "Introducing Oskar" from Mo's Digital Pencil, Digital sentiment

Tools: Copics, Acrylic paint, Dimensional dots (a lot!), Tacky tape, Distressing tool, SU! Creamy Caramel ink pad (direct to paper technique)

Papers: SU! Kraft, Orange, Artichoke, Pumpkin, Neenah white, The Paper Studio DP, Scraps from Basic Grey and MME

I hope you'll stop in and check out the rest of the team for inspiration, and please join us with your distressed creation for a chance to win a gift certificate from Mo's store.

More Free Images!

I got these great images from Crafts on the Net, and I'm having so much fun with them! As I said last week  there are many on a sheet, and I don't find them easy to print out, but I think they're worth the effort.

I had this digital sentiment, and when I saw this image, I knew it would make a great anniversary card! I realized after I uploaded the photo that one of the tiny blue beads was missing from a flower center. I've since repaired it.

Inside: "Happy Anniversary to the purr-fect pair!"

Another Christmas card! This image is also from Crafts on the Net. I love the digital sentiment...reminds me of Ren and Stimpy! Remember his happy dance? I made the variegated holly by punching out two different sized leaves, gluing them together and embossing them with my Nellie Snellen leaf embossing punch. I trimmed down the larger white leaf. The swirl is an actual SU! stamp from the "Priceless" set.

Inside: "Hope your holidays are filled with big surprises!"

Thanks for stopping by! Check in again. I'll be having another small give-away
in the next week or so!

  7. Gotta love Oscar, love the layout of your card and the colors are wonderful. I have some embellishments that I could be first time use too, but I had to have them, but it is perfect for this card, so it was needed, right???
